My Car - Snapshot!

March 2002
Welcome to the SNAPSHOT!!!!! section. Here, I will post new pictures of my car
as I progress
in my Ford Falcon restoration, with big plans for the future..........
The car is back from the painters and I'm starting to put it all back
together. While I complete the process, I'm taking the time to replace
and restore some of the mechanical components as well.
My painter did a real nice job with the car - it's nicer looking than I
ever expected. Hindsight being 20/20, all I can say is I should have
taken more time to finish the bodywork on it before sending it in, as it
would have saved me some cash.
In the end with the time constraints I had with winter rearing its ugly
head there wasn't much I could do. Fortunately I did my homework, and
with a little luck got a real good, professional, and durable base/clear
coat.
Here is a summary of body/paint work:
- All primer I sprayed on to protect body sanded off
- Frame straightened a bit, with a good tug to driver's
rear seat roll down window
- Body seams aligned
- Low spots filled with body putty
- Self etching primer topped with build primer
- Base/Clear coat Ford Zinc yellow - 4 coats color, 2
coats clear
- color sanded and buffed
